Interesting mobile-phone “game” from the LibDems, which polls the “electorate” in a compelling fashion. Works on any Java-compatible cellphone, inside or outside the UK.

Code Snippets: Store, sort and share source code, with tag goodness

Tag-based code-snippet archive. “Like del.icio.us, but with code”, says Yoz, and he’s not wrong.

McSweeney's Internet Tendency: Opening Day Genesis.

“God made the Infield a 90-foot square and the Outfield not less than 400 feet to center and 320 feet down the lines. He declared this Fair Territory. All other territory, God then declared, was Foul.”

Sesame Street: 25 Of My Favorite Memories

“YOU EIGHT THE SANDBOX?!”

The Labour Party: Save the trees

I may be disgruntled with their policies over the last few years, but damn! The Labour Party know how to write a begging email! “This may not be the first email you have ever received asking for money, but at least this one isn’t promising that you’ve already won the Nigerian Lottery. At least, I think not: I haven’t checked the pledge card.”

Boston.com / Boston Sweeper

Handy reminder service from the Globe, now that street-cleaning (and the associated parking tickets) are in effect once more.

Immigration officials have a sense of humour, right?

Immigration officials have a sense of humour, right?

The location? Outside the JFK Building, home of the Boston branch of the US Immigration Services.

The occassion? Just successfully had my Green Card interview.

The T-shirt? A gift from my sister. It reads "I ordered by bride from paulfrank.com"

The shirt? Stayed buttoned-up the whole time I was inside.

The Domesday Project

Christ, this takes me back. Alloa Library had the necessary BBC Micro, laserdisc player and trackball, and I used to spend hours playing around with it.

Large quantities of the unthinking non-critical media, effortlessly hoaxed.

Google Blog: A bird's-eye view

Google integrate satellite photos into Google Maps in a gorgeous fashion, and in doing so, continue to piss on Mapquest’s chips.

Dabblers and Blowhards

Paul Graham (and ESR, and Winer) in bullshit-rant shocker. Despite people pointing to them, I’ve never been able to read a Paul Graham essay. Favourite quote: “Great paintings, for example, get you laid in a way that great computer programs never do.”

Ceefax Search

BBC lawyers are almost certainly swooping on this as we speak, but it’s a sweet little bit of nostalgia to see some live Ceefax pages.

Random cry for help

Don’t suppose anyone reading’s got a copy of the “Apple Hardware Test” CD for a PowerMac G4 kicking around?

My Mac keeps on freezing up, and I suspect a dodgy DIMM. My discs got thrown out two moves ago, and Apple don’t let you download them, as far as I can see.
