43 Things

Ooh. Looks like 43 Things is out of beta. (Or at least it’s available to the public)

I’ve been playing with it, and it’s fun. Start by building a list of up to 43 things that you want to do: Some short-term, some long-term. Some acheivable, some fanciful. You can see my goals to get an idea.

Then once you have the list written, you can start thinking of ways to implement them, using the site to log your progress, encourage others to help you, and generally make progress. Just writing down “Visit Chicago” reminded me that I had airmiles available, so in May, Mrs B and I are heading to “The Windy Apple”.

Could be a good way to track your new years resolutions!

Think Secret - EXCLUSIVE: Apple to drop sub-$500 Mac bomb at Expo

If true, this could be a genius move by Apple. Hook in all the PC-owners (who already have monitors) who got an iPod for Christmas, and turn them into Mac-heads, at a reasonable price.

BBC- Doctor Who - Radiophonatron

Yikes, this takes me back! Piece together the components of the Dr Who theme. I think I’m going to set “Neow” as my “You’ve got mail” sound.

UPS Tracking With RSS

I seem to recall that this is forbidden by the UPS Terms of Service, but let’s hope they turn a blind eye.

Latest version of the iTunes DRM remover. Now a bit more automagic than prior versions.

Woohoo! I’ve just discovered that Textile1 seamlessly supports the inline creation of footnotes2.

Back when I was a miscreant3, I posted with footnotes all the time, and I somewhat miss the practice. It doesn’t bugger up the rhythm of your sentences4, and allows you the freedom to stick ridiculously long asides5 in wherever you feel.

Hurrah6 for footnotes!

1 Textile is the text-processing language I use to write my blog entries.

2 Like this!

3 The collective noun for a poster to uk.misc

4 Like what parentheses (that’s brackets to the Brits) do

5 My original intention was to put a ridiculously long aside down here in this footnote, but I can’t be arsed to do so, due to the fact that it’s Boxing Day7 and I’ve got a stack of DVDs to watch, including The Simpsons Season 5 which features commentary on every single track, so I have 11 hours of television to watch, followed by the same 11 hours, but with a soundtrack of writers and animators cracking wise about the creation of one of the finest seasons of animated television in the world ever.

6 And, indeed, huzzah.

7 That’s December 26 to the Yanks
