Excellent article from a musician about the loss of OiNK. OiNK was run by and for music geeks — I’d be willing to bet that CD purchasing by OiNK members is higher on average than the general population — and primarily acted as the kind of complete music archive that the music industry doesn’t have the skill, inclination or cojones to create themselves.

BitTorrent.com will host torrents for any file on the web you point them to. I didn’t realise that you could use HTTP to seed torrents — that’s a pretty cool way of bootstrapping.
