Good article on where Joel sees web development going — some kind of higher-level language that compiles down to Javascript, HTML, and whatever else runs in browsers. I think there needs to be “Assembler programmers don’t have groupies.” t-shirts.

As someone who installed Vista on a PC in January, and regretted it for months, I echo Joel Spolsky’s summation: “I’ve been using Vista on my home laptop since it shipped, and can say with some conviction that nobody should be using it as their primary operating system — it simply has no redeeming merits to overcome the compatibility headaches it causes.”

Classic Joel article from 2002. I had to go and reread this, because I’ve been stuck in a rut of unproductivity for the last couple of days. Good reminder that it happens to everyone.

Joel rips into the craptacular experience of the new Sprint phone. I bet the PR bod who figured sending free phones to bloggers was a great idea is regretting it.
