Schulze & Webb’s hardware prototype of a socially-networked open-source digital radio. Some excellent ideas for internet-enabled physical objects in the pamphlet.
Schulze & Webb are working on an open, social digital-radio-plus-wifi prototype for the BBC. Fascinating the way they hope to apply “open source” to hardware design.
Best online radio station I’ve played with in a while. Definitely a step-above Pandora — Meemix has a social edge Pandora lacks — and the “Pulse” control is nice too.

It’s Like a Podcast, Only Delivered Wirelessly.
Earlier this evening, I wanted to listen to my local NPR station to hear the results of today’s gubernatorial primary in Massachusetts.
So I grabbed my laptop, went to wbur.org, clicked through to the “Listen Live’ page, copied the link to their online stream to my clipboard, went to my Squeezebox control web page, selected “Radio Tune In”, pasted in the WBUR streaming URL, and hit Listen. Simple!
And as the LED display in the room lit up with “WBUR 90.9 FM, BOSTON”, it occurred to me belatedly that the RhymesWithNose sound system in my living room has an FM radio built-in.
This FM thing could really take off, you know.

Matt Biddulph scripted an AudioScrobbler profile containing a live feed of the music played on the BBC 6Music radio station.
The BBC Archives database has been put online in an searchable and hyperlinked format. How long until the archives are web-accessible too?

Auntie releases a Radio 4 comedy show for MP3 download & podcast. Hurrah! If they do this with the next series of Just a Minute and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, I’m going to be a happy camper indeed.
You can now get XM stations on DirecTV (replacing the old MusicChoice channels). I particularly recommend “Lucy” (alternative greatest hits) and “Ethel” (current alternative music) on channels 838 and 834.
MLB on XM
Rather nattily, the display on my XM radio shows the Sox score, so I can keep track of the game while driving, whilst listening to music on my iPod.
