I love Love LOVED the 2D DS Super Mario game, and can’t wait to throw my money at Nintendo for the Wii version.
Stonking little indie game, finally officially released. Filled with bizarreness and imagination, I’ve been having a blast with it.
Thankfully, I was completely unaware that any of these games existed — I had to do a quick search to make sure they were real, and not created purely for the purposes of this article!
Toys Backwards-R Us are giving away $25 gift cards when you buy Super Mario Galaxy from them. Since I was already planning on getting it, that makes me happy. (I’ll probably use the gift card to buy some Wii Points, so I can download Super Mario Bros 3 off of the Virtual Console. Woo!)
Video of Nintendo’s forthcoming workout game for the Wii. Looks like a Brain Age for your whole body!

Virtual drumming with a wiimote. The video gives a good idea how it works.
Everybody Votes
I’m in the middle of flipping between writing two emails and a document, and getting nothing completed, when I get distracted by the shiny blue light on my Wii. A message has arrived! What can it say? I must drop everything immediately and become distracted.
It was heralding the arrival of a new free channel called Everybody Votes. (there are some photos at Kotaku)
It’s kind of cute. You vote (with entertaining Mii graphics) on silly little questions like “Do you prefer cats or dogs?”, then predict how you think the majority will vote. Nosing around it, it looks like you get feedback on how well you predict the populous, as well as how far you verge from normal.
Joy happened to walk by as I was playing, so I got her to join in. It was fun comparing our votes, and if Nintendo were to expand it to allow you to compare with your Wii friends, I could see this becoming wicked popular, especially when you consider all the silly meme polls that flood LiveJournal and the like. People like showing off their opinion (plus comparing scores!)
If nothing else, it acts as an example of out-there thinking from someone at Nintendo. You wouldn’t see this on a PS3!
Dance Dance Revolution is headed for Wii, and there’ll be arm movements with the Wiimote thrown in for good measure. Hopefully this’ll be easier to find than DDR Mario Mix was for the GameCube.
Conan O’Brien takes on Serena Williams at Wii Tennis.
Wii News Channel
It just seems right that the first story I pulled up on the new Wii "News Channel" was about the European PS3 launch.
Finetune, Boston-based music streaming playlist geezers, have a nice Flash-based player designed with the Wii web browser in mind.

Flash games designed to be played on the Wii’s Internet Channel. What a clever way of getting “homebrew” games onto the Wii!

It’s Me! On TV! Courtesy of Wii! Eeeeee!
Not terribly legible (wonder if component cables will make a difference), but here's my blog on the telly, courtesy of the freshly-launched "Internet Channel" on my Wii.
Rather surprisingly, the browser supports Flash video, so the combination of Wii and YouTube finally gives me a way to, if you can imagine such a thing, enjoy watching video on my television.
Woot slam the PS3 in their promotional copy, and still sell out in 4.5 minutes! “In fact, we love the Wii so much, we want to give a Wii to everybody on our payroll. To fund this Wii-for-the-People program, we’re selling this Sony PlayStation 3.”

With the Weather channel being released this morning, and Opera later this week, it’s going to be fun to see how the non-gaming side of Wii grows.

Amazon are rather sensibly randomly distributing the chance to buy a Wii or PS3 from them. Sign up before midnight tomorrow for a shot at getting one.

Smart people have worked out how to download/upload Miis from/to the Wiimote over Bluetooth, and set up a forum for Celebrity Mii trading.
Raving Rabbids is by far my favourite Wii game. This promo clip does a good job of showing why. (If only I could find a second Wiimote so Joy & I could play together!)

Use your Wiimote as a mouse on a Mac.
